A chilling encounter has left an elderly couple in Royton, Manchester, traumatized and struggling to come to terms with the events that unfolded. In a heart-wrenching interview, the couple, Maureen and Roland Parkisson, recounted the terrifying moment they were awakened by an intruder with an unusual demand.
Maureen, 79, described the moment she felt a hand on her shoulder, initially believing it was her husband, Roland, waking her up. But as she opened her eyes, she was met with the face of a stranger, a hooded figure wearing a high-visibility jacket and gloves.
"I saw his face, and I knew something was wrong," Maureen said. "He claimed to be working outside at 5 a.m., but I knew that was a lie."
The intruder, described as a calm and softly spoken man, proceeded to demand the couple's bank cards and PIN numbers. But the most disturbing part of the encounter was his request for them to drink a mysterious 'black liquid' he had brought with him.
"He forced us to drink it," Roland explained. "He said it would make us sleep, but it tasted awful, and I spat it out immediately."
The couple, who have been together for five decades, described the entire incident as surreal and terrifying. They spoke of the intruder's calm demeanor, which only added to their sense of unease.
"I keep seeing his face in my mind's eye," Roland said, his voice trembling. "It replays over and over, and I can't shake the feeling of violation."
Maureen added, "I see his face everywhere now. He was young, maybe in his twenties or thirties. We're still in shock, and it's taking a toll on our peace of mind."
Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that this incident is part of a series of targeted burglaries in the Royton area, with similar descriptions of the offender. The police believe the intruder is deliberately targeting elderly residents and have increased patrols in the neighborhood.
"We are determined to bring this offender to justice," said Detective Chief Inspector Zahid Latif. "Our community will not tolerate such horrific crimes against vulnerable individuals. We urge anyone with information to come forward and help us put an end to these terrifying incidents."
The suspect is described as a black male of large build, approximately 6 feet tall, with big curly hair. He was wearing all black with a yellow high-visibility gilet.
