MOE Kindergarten 1 Admission 2027: 57 Kindergartens Open for Registration (2026)

Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) is opening its doors to a brighter future for preschoolers! 57 MOE-run kindergartens are gearing up for the 2027 K1 admissions, offering a head start to children's educational journey. But here's the catch: this opportunity is exclusive to a select group.

Parents, mark your calendars for March 23! From this date, you can register your little ones for Kindergarten 1, but only if they are born between January 2, 2022, and January 1, 2023, and are either Singapore citizens or permanent residents. This registration window closes on March 31, so don't miss out!

The process is simple: head over to the MOE Kindergarten website and complete the registration. You'll receive the outcome by June 1, and if successful, your child will have priority admission to the primary school linked to the kindergarten, assuming there are vacancies.

With approximately 7,900 K1 places up for grabs across these 57 kindergartens, that's around 140 spots per center. MK@Rivervale, set to open in 2027, is part of this exciting expansion. And here's a tip: attend the open houses between March 7 and 28 to get a sneak peek at the programs and facilities before registering.

MOE kindergartens are a haven for five and six-year-olds, offering a high-quality yet affordable preschool education. The curriculum, crafted by MOE specialists, goes beyond academics. It nurtures social skills, literacy, numeracy, and overall development, ensuring kids are ready for Primary 1.

And now, for a unique feature: all MOE kindergartens teach the three mother tongue languages—Chinese, Malay, and Tamil. This bold move aims to foster bilingualism from an early age, setting a strong language foundation. Plus, they offer full-day care, providing peace of mind for working parents.

Mr. Muhammad Aqil, a 35-year-old civil servant, shared his positive experience with MK@Westwood. With affordable fees of less than $200 per month after subsidies, his daughter Asheera received a strong start in learning her mother tongue, Tamil. The kindergarten's location within Westwood Primary School also eased her transition to primary education, as her brother is already a student there.

But here's where it gets controversial: Mr. Aqil's eldest son, now in Primary 2, struggled with the transition from a different preschool that didn't offer Tamil. This raises the question: Are MOE kindergartens truly preparing children for a smooth transition to primary school?

Asheera, on the other hand, is thriving in K2, already familiar with the school environment and its staff and students. Mr. Aqil believes her kindergarten experience will make her transition to Primary 1 smoother.
