Nancy Guthrie Disappearance: New Surveillance Footage Revealed by FBI (2026)

New surveillance footage has emerged, revealing a masked intruder who appears to have tampered with a security camera at Nancy Guthrie’s residence on the very morning she went missing. This development adds a crucial piece of evidence to a story that has captivated both the nation and the globe.

On February 11, 2026, the FBI released these significant images and video clips, showcasing an armed individual lurking near Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona. According to FBI Director Kash Patel, these visuals were retrieved from residual data within backend systems after extensive efforts over eight days to access lost or previously inaccessible footage from the security cameras at the 84-year-old's home.

“Today, law enforcement has revealed new images that were once difficult to access, depicting an armed person seemingly tampering with the camera positioned at the front door of Nancy Guthrie’s house,” Patel stated.

The newly released black-and-white images depict a figure clad in a mask, dark gloves, and casual attire, complete with a backpack. In addition, Patel shared a 27-second video showing the suspect loitering outside the front entrance, alongside a 14-second clip where the individual is seen attempting to obscure the camera lens with nearby foliage.

Previously, it was known that a security camera detected a “person on camera” at 2:12 AM on February 1, but no video evidence had been available to clarify what caused that alert.

Nancy Guthrie is the mother of Savannah Guthrie, a prominent host on the U.S. Today show, who was born in Melbourne. In the wake of her mother's disappearance, Savannah has posted several heartfelt videos, including one in which she referenced a supposed message from a kidnapper, expressing her willingness to meet ransom demands.

Law enforcement officials have yet to confirm the authenticity of ransom notes that have reportedly been sent to various U.S. media outlets.

In her latest Instagram appeal, Savannah emphasized the family's belief that their mother is still alive, declaring, "We believe our mum is still out there. She was taken, and we don’t know where, and we need your help."

In response to this distressing situation, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt mentioned that both she and President Donald Trump had reviewed the newly released images. Trump encouraged anyone with information to come forward, stating, "The prayers of this entire White House are with Savannah and her family at this time, and we hope this person is found soon and that her mother is brought home safely."

To aid in the investigation, the FBI has announced a reward of $50,000 (approximately $71,000 AUD) for any information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s safe return or the arrest of individuals linked to her disappearance.
