Remembering Angela McLaughlin: A Tribute to a Beloved Mother and Friend (2026)

It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of Angela McLaughlin’s passing—a moment that leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her. But here’s where it gets emotional: Angela’s journey came to a peaceful end on February 14th, 2026, at her home, surrounded by the warmth of her devoted family. This isn’t just a farewell; it’s a celebration of a life richly lived and deeply cherished.

Angela, formerly of 5 Rathlin Gardens and most recently of 39 Ballymagowan Avenue, leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. And this is the part most people miss: She wasn’t just a mother, grandmother, sister, or friend—she was the heart of her family, the glue that held everyone together. As the beloved mother of Charlene, Eugene, Sean, Aoife, Caitlin, and Rhys, and the dearest mother-in-law of Daniel, Dearbhaila, Kerry, Brendan, and Carrie, her influence extended far beyond her immediate circle. Her grandchildren—Chantelle, Ryan, Kacie, Kyle, Rian, Clodagh, Aoibheann, Beau, and Dara—will forever carry her laughter and wisdom in their hearts. She was also a much-loved sister to Michael, Marian, Eileen, Jeanette, Carmel, Danny, John, Cathy, Denis, Brian, and the late Collette, whose bond was unbreakable.

Here’s where it gets controversial: In a world that often measures success in material terms, Angela’s wealth was in the love she gave and received. Her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will deeply regret her absence, yet her spirit will live on in their memories. But isn’t it true that the greatest gift we can leave behind is the imprint of our love on those we hold dear? What do you think—is a life well-lived measured by the love we leave behind?

Angela’s remains will repose at her home, 39 Ballymagowan Avenue, beginning tomorrow, Sunday, February 15th, at 3:30 pm. The funeral will depart from there on Tuesday, February 17th, at 9:15 am, for a 10:00 am Requiem Mass at St. Mary’s Church, Creggan. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be live-streamed via this link: https://www.churchservices.tv/creggan. Following the Mass, a cremation service will take place at 3:30 pm at Lakeland’s Crematorium, Co. Cavan. Please note that the wake house will be private from 10 pm to 11 am.

Another point to ponder: In lieu of flowers, Angela’s family requests donations to The Foyle Hospice or Marie Curie—two organizations close to her heart. This gesture reflects her selflessness and her desire to give back even in her final moments. But it raises a question: How do we best honor the memory of a loved one? Through traditions like flowers, or through acts of kindness that extend their legacy? Share your thoughts in the comments.

St. Bernadette, pray for her. Our Lady of Lourdes, intercede for her. For all inquiries, please contact Mr. Kieran Connor at McClafferty Funeral Directors on 02871262823. As we bid Angela farewell, let’s remember her not with tears of sorrow, but with smiles of gratitude for the love she shared and the lives she touched.
